Katia begins her dance training with Anne-Marie Porras at EPSEDANSE and gets her Jazz Diploma D.E in 2010. That same year, she studies at the MONDAP’ART Art Center directed by Marco Cattoi where she learns from the many choreographers she works with. Subsequently, she continues her studies with the Company CobosMika in Girona.
After gaining valuable experience from these various influences, Katia materializes her choreography quest by creating her own company, PrÃk, in 2012. Her first work is “Adieu Maurice’; she then goes on to create ‘Nipples theory”, a piece that fits into the registry of Dance-Theatre. The artistic team draws its energy from her madness, her complicity, her ability to surprise.
“What is important is to stimulate creativity to its fullest”, she says; “to be looking for new propositions, a unique choreographic language. Find a way to “tell” otherwise, with humor sometimes; we don’t want to fall into the trap of a passing dance trend even if it’s tempting. Insisting on the quality of contact, the credibility of an interpretation, and the originality of a form is more important to us than the mastery of a strictly speaking pure technique.”
From Barcelona to Luxemburg, and going through France, the company broadcasts her work internationally. Simultaneously, she dances with Laura Vilar in several of her creations.
Katia also teaches. Being invited regularly by the Luxembourg Choreographic Center, at Varium, or by the Nun Art (Barcelona), she transmits her dance to a professional audience.
She is looking for an engaged and dynamic dance, permeated with speed & attack and back to something more instinctive, less cultivated; to focus on the pleasure of the danced movement.
